Centre Fire Pistol
Centrefire Pistol is competed using centrefire calibre pistols between .30 and .38 (The 25 Metre Pistol match was initially competed as a women’s and juniors match— however it is now being trialled for both men and women.) Both Centre Fire and 25 meter, (Sports) matches use the same targets on the 25 metre range. Centre Fire remains one of the most popular events even though it has been around for a long time. The match consists of two separate 30 shot stages of fire. The first stage is “Precision” which is shot on a precision target (50 mm 10 ring), with five minutes allowed for each 5 shot series. Each shooter has one target. The second stage is “rapid fire” on rapid fire targets (100 mm 10 centre black ring). One shot is fired within each 3 seconds exposure of the target, away for 7 seconds then facing again, with the shooter lowering his arm to 45 degrees between each exposure to the target.
Any centrefire calibre from 7.62mm—9.65mm (.30 to .38) can be used in a revolver or semi-auto, with a barrel no longer than 150mm and a trigger pull no lighter than 1000 grms. Many target grade handguns are available for this match, mainly in .32 SWL and .38 Special.
